Informing this to the media soon after his arrival from New Delhi today, Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan said the schedule of Gandhi’s tour will be decided very soon.

This would be the first visit of Rahul to Odisha after the last general elections.

The OPCC chief said that he had met AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi and President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi and apprised them of the political situation in the state.

Speaking to reporters outside the airport, Harichandan said he would work on filling up the vacant PCC positions to strengthen the organisation from the grassroots level after the debacle in 2014 polls.

“We are going to undertake programmes to reorganize our organisation very soon. We would also undertake programmes that are necessary for us to do as the opposition party,” said Harichandan.

“10 of district president positions are vacant. Many of the block president positions are also vacant. It would be impossible for us to carry out our political activities without filling up those positions. So, we are going to fill them up soon. However, final decision has not yet been taken on any position,” he added.
