Rahul to visit Odisha on Sep 10, hold farmers’ rallies

All India Congress Committee (AICC) vice president Rahul Gandhi will be on a two-day visit to Odisha beginning September 10 where the party top brass would address several rallies, party sources said.

rahul gandhiThe Gandhi scion is slated to address a farmers’ rally—‘Save Farmers’– in Bargarh to highlight the growing instances of farmer suicides in the state.

“AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi will be on a two-day visit to Odisha from September 10. He will take part in a massive padyatra in western Odisha town of Bargarh in protest against the increasing farmer suicides. Besides, he will also take part in other programmes in the state,” Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan told reporters here today.

He is scheduled to participate in a padyatra to highlight the alleged failures of the Central government and the state government to address the issues of the famrers.

Rahul is likely to visit the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics, also known as Sishu Bhawan, in Cuttack where at least 54 infants have died in the last 12 days due to alleged medical negligence. However, the itinerary has not been finalised yet, source said.

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to tour Odisha in June this year. However, the visit was put off due to unknown reasons.
