Raid on illegal cracker unit in Odisha, 11 tractors seized

Cuttack: Police busted illegal firecrackers unit and seized 11 cracker-laden tractors during a raid in Jagatpur area here in the district.

The raid was conducted on Saturday night ahead of Diwali celebration.

Till the last report came in, the raids were underway on the illegal cracker units allegedly being operated in Jagatpur area.

However, tension sparked after several villages in Trilochanpur and adjoining to it under Jagatpur police limits were sealed by the police for allegedly running unlicensed firecrackers units.

The local administration deployed seven platoons of police forces to bring the situation under control.

Notably, police started busting the illegal firecrackers units after several cracker explosion incidents were reported from across the State.

Recently, a woman died while preparing firecrackers at Balipatna area on outskirts of Bhubaneswar. Similarly, a woman teacher was seriously wounded after firecrackers exploded at her residence in Rayagada.
