IT raids on two leading businessmen in Odisha capital

The Income Tax (IT) department today conducted raids at the residence and business premises of two leading businessmen in the Odisha capital: Siba Prasad Panda, proprietor of Panda Travel Mart, a leading luggage and leather accessories chain with multiple outlets in the city and Aditya Narayan Mahasupakar, owner of Basumati Builders.

The raids at the Panda Travel Mart outlets in Unit II and Ashok Nagar and at Panda’s resdience in Shahid Nagar and the rsidence of Mahasupakar in Samantarapur area were still on when reports last came in.

There is, however, no word yet from IT department officials on what they had found during the raids.

Panda Travel Mart had opened its third, five-storeyed outlet at Patia in Bhubaneswar only recently.

The raids on the two businessmen – and Panda Travel Mmart, in particular – has spread panic among businessmen in the city with many of them wondering whose turn it could be next.

    Good news. I think the reporter should go to the depth of the raid and follow up the news further, because there must be some facts related to this raid either from the Income tax department side or from businessman side which has to be unearthed by the reporter.
