Rain fury: Schools in Odisha capital to be shut tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: With the low pressure in the Bay of Bengal turning into deep depression, Odisha government today directed the authorities to close all Anganwadi centres across state and schools in capital city tomorrow, in view of incessant rains.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik asked the authorities to keep the Anganwadi centres closed for tomorrow for the safety of children. Besides, Patnaik directed to close all schools in the capital city as the weathermen have predicted heavy rainfall tomorrow.

Notably, maximum parts of the state witnessed moderate to heavy rainfall in the past 24 hours.

With reports of few rivers in spate, the Chief Minister asked the District Collectors to take appropriate decision after assessing the rain situation.

Earlier in the day, Cuttack and Puri district administrations had declared closure of all government and private educational institutions in the districts due to incessant rainfall and water logging.
