Bhubaneswar, Sept 20:

Rain/thundershowers will occur at most places in Odisha while heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at one or twoplaces over north Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over south Odisha during next 24 hours, the local Met Centre said in its afternoon bulletin today.

Widespread rain with heavy to very heavy rain would occur over north Odisha, especially north east Odisha districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jajpur and Bhadrak, it predicted.

The bulletin said the weather condition has been caused by the intensification of yesterday’s Low Pressure Area over the north-west and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast into a Well Marked Low Pressure Area over north-west Bay of Bengal and adjoining coastal areas of Odisha and West Bengal.

Gusty surface wind speed reaching 45 to 55 kmph- gusting to 60 kmph- will prevail along and off Odisha Coast, the IMD bulletin said while warning fishermen against venturing into the sea.
