Rains over most of Odisha; may last till tomorrow

Most places in Odisha expereinced intermittent light rains during the last 24 hours under the influence of the well marked low pressure formed over the Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coast, which is moving northwards.

Potangi in Koraput district received the maximum od 21 mm over the last 24 hours while Puri had 10.4 mm of rainfall and Digapahandi 9.9 mm.

Rain or thundershower would occur at  most  places over  Odisha while one or two places in coastal Odisha may receive moderate to heavy rainfall during the next 24 hours, the Met office said in a bulletin released here this afternoon.

The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Southwest and adjoining West Central Bay of Bengal off North Tamil Nadu and South Andhra Pradesh Coast lay over West Central Bay of Bengal at 0830 hours IST today, the bulletin said.

“Rains will continue till tomorrow. The North Odisha coast in particular is likely to get more rains while most other places in the state would get light to moderate rains. There is, however, little chance of heavy rains anywhere,” Director of the IMD Centre, Bhubaneswar said.

 

 

 

   Fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into sea.
