Raja Swain to head 12-member BJD committee to oversee Odisha co-op polls

Ahead of cooperative elections in the state, BJD president and Odisha chief minister Naveen Patnaik today formed a 12-member state level coordination committee to oversee the elections on behalf of the party.

Raja Swain Ranendra Pratap SwainThe committee will be headed by senior BJD leader and Athagarh MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain. The members of the committee are Nagendra Pradhan, Prafulla Samal, Jiban Pradip Das, Bhagirathi Badajena, Rajanikant Singh, Balabhadra Majhi, Debesh Acharya, Rabinarayan Nanda, Sesha Kumar Meher, Umesh Swain, Alekh Choudhury and Girish Das.

The party would also hold a Cooperative workshop on November 3 with senior BJD leaders, which will be attended by Naveen Patnaik.

Curiously, a majority of the members of the 12-man committee are those who lost out on ministerial berths or party tickets or lost the last elections, leading to observations that it was an exercise on the part of the party supremo to make them feel that they matter.
