Rajiv Vishnoi has taken over as the new General Manager of East Coast Railway.

Vishnoi, a graduate in both Mechanical as well as Electrical Engineering had joined Indian Railways in 1973 as Special Class Railway Apprentice in Indian Railways Service of Mechanical Engineering (IRSME). He has completed his G.I. Mechanical Engineering & G.I. Production Engineering at London.

Shri Vishnoi , a widely experienced Railway official, has worked in a variety of fields, particularly Diesel traction in which he has worked for as many as 24 years. He has headed Indian Railways’ biggest workshop in Kharagpur and is credited with getting it certified under ISO 9001.

During his tenure as Divisional Railway Manager in Hyderabad in South Central Railway he had managed the entire 25 sq km Rly estate in the twin cities and constructed one of the first Rheda design aprons on station mainline. Vishnoi has also worked as Senior Dy. General Manager (SDGM) & Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) in South Central Railway.

As Senior Executive Director (Motive Power) at RDSO, Shri Vishnoi has introduced a number of new designs in Diesel traction the Dual cab locos and Multigenset loco.

He has the rare distinction of having been awarded many efficiency medals for his outstanding performance in Indian Railways. He has a vast experience in Modern Coach Maintenance practices, Purchase & Vending Development and Strategic Management Programmes and having been trained in Europe, Japan, USA and Canada.

He is known for his sincere, diligent, result-oriented and humane approach in work and is a Sangeet Bhushan in Vocal Music.
