Raju Ban Gaya Conman! Odisha actor-producer arrested in Railway job scam

Ollywood industry is again embroiled in a controversy after the arrest of an actor-turned-producer in Odisha capital in connection with the Railway recruitment scam.

Chandrasekharpur police today arrested Ashok Kumar Mallick aka Raju (45) from his residence in the Railway quarters here after probe revealed his involvement in the fake job racket.

While the fraudsters duped the aspirants by making sham calls, issuing intimation and scheduling fake interviews letters, the professional actor designed his plan in a much organized way. According to sources, he used to tutor job aspirants at a coaching centre in Satya Nagar area in the city and promised employment in lieu of hefty sums.

The actor operated so naturally that none doubted him and his bogus institute.  However, his luck went bust with his arrest today.

“He has been arrested in connection with a case registered with Chandrasekharpur police. Earlier, seven persons were arrested and today senior technician of ECoR Ashok Kumar Mallick has been arrested. We are interrogating him further to gather more information,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said.

On the other hand, the accused denied his involvement in the scam.

“I have been framed. I don’t have any involvement in this,” the accused, Ashok Kumar Mallick claimed.

Notably, he has produced several movies including ‘Aei Milana Juga Juga Ra’, ‘Mr Raju’ and ‘Mu Gotiye Dushta Pila’. He was the one-man army as he was the scriptwriter, director and producer of these movies. Besides, he has acted in several television serials.

It is alleged that he conned the job seekers and invested the money in his movies.

Ashok works as a Grade-I employee in the Indian Railways.

With his arrest, the number of arrests in this connection has risen to eight. As of now, Chandrasekharpur police have arrested six persons and Nayapalli police nabbed two.

Recently, the East Coast Railways (ECoR) had written to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe into the job scam where it suspects involvement of its employees.
