Bhubaneswar, Sep 19:
After much backlash, the Odisha Government today decided to form three committees on September 21 to study the place of origin of Rasagola and counter West Bengal’s claim as the birthplace of the syrupy sweet.
As per information provided by the Science & Technology Department Minister Pradeep Kumar Panigrahy, the committees would have members from Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) and Culture departments.
While the first committee would investigate the facts regarding the origin of Rasagola, the second would study the ground based on which West Bengal is making its claim and the third would collect the necessary documents to support and validate Odisha’s claim.
“We are going to form three committees on Monday. We would delegate the task between the committees to expedite the results. One committee would collect the evidence; another would study Bengal’s claim and the third committee would collect the necessary papers so that we can move as fast as possible. We have decided to finish the task within next seven days,” said Minister Panigrahy.
