Ravenshaw VC refuses to budge on students’ union poll

Cuttack, Sep 22:
The Vice Chancellor of Ravenshaw University Prof BC Tripathy today refused to relook at the decision of postponing electioneering for next month’s students’ union election and said that normalcy in the campus was necessary for holding the October 8 poll.

“Unless the situation inside the campus improves, we’ll not budge an inch from our stand on polls,” Tripathy said.

He said normalcy in campus was an essential prerequisite to hold elections for the students’ union and there would be no compromise on it.

The university authorities are sticking to their stand mainly due to a dharna staged by two non-students, who are seeking admissions to a particular PG course despite the expiry of the last date since long and there is no vacant seat in the same course.
