RDCs to be administrators of 3 Odisha govt medical colleges

Revenue divisional commissioners (RDCs) would be appointed as administrators of the three government medical colleges and hospitals in the state for better monitoring of health services, the Odisha government decided on Wednesday.

At a high level review meeting  at the State Secretariat here, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed officials to expedite infrastrcuture development work of these three medical colleges as per the recommendations  of the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Patnaik underscored the need for filling up vacant posts in the Transplant unit of these medical colleges and hospital and distribution of free medicines to poor patients.

The Chief Minister also directed officials to start construction work of the five new government medcal colleges and hospitals proposed at Baripada, Baleswar, Puri, Koraput and Bolangir and finish it on schedule. He also asked them to start the process for recruitment of of doctors and paramedical staff in these upcoming medical colleges.

The Chief Minister also directed the authorities to take strict action gainst errant doctors who remain on long leave without authorisation.

Among others, Health and Family Welfare minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, chief secretary GC Pati, Development Commissioner AP Padhi and secretaries of Health and Family Welfare  and Works were present at the meeting.
