Regional parties merge to form Odisha Democratic Front

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to dethrone the ruling BJD, two regional parties- Samata Kranti Dal and Utkal Bharat-have merged to form a new political front named ‘Odisha Democratic Front’.

Informing this at a presser here, leaders of both the parties Braja Kishore Tripathy and Kharabela Swain today said the new political front is aimed at dethroning BJD from power in 2019 elections. They also claimed that the front will give candidates in every constituency across the State in the ensuing polls and form the next Government by winning the maximum seats.

The new political outfit further alleged that the BJD Government has made Odisha a poor State. People in large numbers are going outside the State in search of work due to callousness of the State Government towards development in various sectors, including health and agriculture, alleged Utkal Bharat chief Kharabela Swain.

Both Tripathy and Swain exhorted all anti-BJD members to come forward and fight together to defeat the Naveen Government in the upcoming elections.

Meanwhile, senior leader and former Minister Damodar Rout has requested the Election Commission for its approval and recognition to his newly formed party Janata Kranti.
