Regular checking of DLs on Odisha highways to curb accidents

Bhubaneswar, May 27:
In a bid to curb road accidents, the Odisha Government has decided to conduct regular checking of driving licences (DLs) on national and state highways. A decision in this regard was taken at a high-level meeting chaired by chief secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi at the State Secretariat here today.
“It has been decided to set up 8 more trauma care centres in the state in order to provide immediate treatment to people injured in road accidents. The Government had recently identified accident-prone spots in 26 districts of the state. Such spots in 4 more districts will be identified soon,” the chief secretary said after the meeting.
Among others, Development Commissioner, Transport Department secretary and other concerned officials were present in the meeting.
