Remark against PM stalls Odisha Assembly

Uproar over BJD MLA Mahesh Sahoo’s remark against PM Narendra Modi continues to stall Odisha Assembly as BJP members today created ruckus in the House over the matter forcing Speaker Niranjan Puri to adjourn the House repeatedly.

As soon as the House Assembled for Question Hour, the BJP legislators rushed to the Well of the House and created din over the issue demanding apology from the BJD MLA.

Unable to run the House amid pandemonium, Speaker Pujari adjourned it till 11.30 AM.

Similar scenes prevailed after the House reassembled following which the House was again adjourned for 30 minutes.

Logjam continued further as Congress members created pandemonium leading to adjournment of the House till 3 PM.

Congress chief whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati demanded for a censure motion against the Prime Minister in the House over his remark about Odisha.

The Assembly had yesterday witnessed similar scenes as the House was repeatedly adjourned following ruckus by BJP members.

Notably, MLA Mahesh Sahoo had made the statement against PM Modi over the latter’s remarks on “poverty” in Odisha at an election rally in Uttar Pradesh some days ago.
