Remnant Of Cyclone Gulab: Depression likely over Arabian Sea in next 24 hours

Bhubaneswar: The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over north Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Gujarat region & southwest Madhya Pradesh (remnant Of Cyclone Gulab) is likely to intensity into a Depression over Arabian Sea in the next 24 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its morning bulletin, today.

“The Well Marked Low Pressure Area over northwest Vidarbha now lies over north Madhya Maharashtra and adjoining Gujarat region & southwest Madhya Pradesh and the associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid-tropospheric levels. It is likely to move west northwestwards and likely to emerge into northeast Arabian Sea & adjoining Gujarat coast around 30th September and there is likelihood for the system to further intensity into a Depression over northeast Arabian Sea during subsequent 24 hours,” the IMD bulletin issued at 8 AM said.

On the other hand, the Well Marked Low Pressure Area over Northwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining coastal areas of West Bengal now lies over central parts of Gangetic West Bengal and the associated cyclonic circulation extends upto mid-tropospheric levels.

The Regional Meteorological Centre here has issued Orange and Yellow warnings for several districts of Odisha for today in this connection.

Orange Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places very likely to occur over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Sundargarh.

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Deogarh, Angul, Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore and Dhenkanal.

Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Boudh, Sambalpur and Jharsuguda.

Squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40 to 50 gusting to 60 kmph likely over North Bay of Bengal, off Odisha coast till 30th September morning.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea, North Bay of Bengal and along & off Odisha coast of till 30th September morning.
