No respite from heat wave in western Odisha

There is no respite from the gruelling heat wave in the western and interior Odisha as the mercury crossed 40 degree Celsius in most parts of these region on Monday.

Heat Wave Temp

While Sonepur was the hottest place of the day with 42 degree Celsius, temperature went past 40 degrees Celsius in Angul (40.3), Sambalpur (40.2), Hirakud (40.1), Talcher (41.5), Bhawanipatna (41.5), Bolangir (40.5), Titlagarh (40.5) and Malkangiri (41.2).

Temperature in the state capital, which was 41.7 degree on Sunday, came down later in the day following an afternoon shower of 7.8 mm. However, the city recorded 39.8 degree today with intense humid conditions.

Besides, there was a drastic fall in temperature in Koraput (34.4) and Phulbani (38.6) following a moderate rainfall of 11 mm and 9 mm in the afternoon.

The Met office here has predicted further rise in the day temperature from April 24 with rain or thundershower at some places of the state in the next 24 hours.
