According to reports, the Higher Education department has announced the date for the entrance test for admission in the BEd and CT courses on May 26 for which it has set the last date of application by May 7.

Thousands of candidates run the risk of being deprived of the entrance test as the department has made it mandatory for applicants to submit the mark sheets of Plus Two and Plus Three examinations with the application.

The Higher Education department has set the eligibility criteria for BEd and CT courses as Plus Three and Plus Two respectively. But with the results of the annual Plus Two and Plus Three examinations yet to be announced, aspiring candidates are at their wit’s end.

There is little possibility of the Plus Two results being announced before the last week of May and hence those aspiring to write the CT examination are certain to miss the bus.

Besides, among the various universities and autonomous colleges, only Utkal University has so far published the results of the final year Plus Three results. It will take at least two weeks for the remaining universities to announce the Plus Three results, sources said. Therefore, a majority of those aspiring for the BEd course will also be derived of the opportunity to take the examination this year

In a desperate measure, some students have now urged the chief minister to direct the Higher Education department to extend the last date of application till after the announcement of the Plus Two and Plus Three results.
