Retired teacher in Odisha extends helping hand to divyangs from pension

Balasore: A former teacher in Odisha has set an example by providing his pension amount to poor persons with disabilities (divyangs) every month in Balasore district.

Damodar Rout, a resident of Barikpur village under Bahanaga block of the district, has dedicated his life in service to mankind after his retirement as the school headmaster.

He has turned a friend for poor and destitute with his dedicated services in the society.

In the first phase of his mission, Rout has made arrangement for six persons with disabilities to give allowance on his own efforts. He is spending Rs 300 per head every month from his own pocket.

Jayant Kumar Das (60) of Kamaripur, Sadanan Panda (30) of Patharapentha, Tapas Kumar Dash (45) of Gandhina, Harihara Barik (65), Dama Das (30) and NIrakar Puhan (55) of Shathi are getting the allowance from Rout every month.

The amount will help them, who are incapable to meet requirements of their families due to poverty, Rout said.
