Rice & salt served to students in Odisha’s Malkangiri: Headmaster suspended

Malkangiri: The district Collector today suspended Sukant Behera, headmaster of Sorishamal Sevashram School where rice and salt were reportedly served to students as dinner.

The Collector’s action comes a day after the incident was reported in media. The official had ordered an enquiry into the matter by the District Welfare Officer.

The matron of the hostel, Manju Biswas has also been suspended.

According to reports, out of 280 students of the school, some were served rice along with salt instead of dal on Thursday night despite vegetables and pulses being in stock at the storeroom.

The local sarpanch and parents reported the matter to district administration following which District Education Officer and other officials reached the spot.

Later, curry was cooked and served to the inmates in the presence of the officials, reports said.
