Roorkee/Bhubaneswar: Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant was injured as a car driven by him collided with a road divider and caught fire at Mohammedpur Jat near Roorkee, this morning.
The accident took place at around 5.30 AM while he was returning to his hometown Roorkee from Delhi.
Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar said Pant was alone in the car at the time of the mishap and broke the windscreen to escape from the vehicle as it caught fire.
“Pant said he dozed off while driving. Subsequently, the car collided against the divider and caught fire,” the top cop added.
He was rescued and taken to Saksham Hospital on Delhi Road.
According to the doctors, Pant has suffered injuries on his forehead and leg.
Dr Sushil Nagar, chairman of Saksham Hospital, said Pant’s condition is stable.
