Bhubaneswar, July 28 :

Torrential rain in the upper catchment has triggered flood fears in Baleswar, Keonjhar and Jajpur districts.

Nearly 30 villages in Jaleswar in Baleswar district were inundated on Saturday after Jalaka river crossed the danger mark. Local reports suggest Budhabalanga is also flowing above the danger level.

According to reports, river Baitarani was flowing above the danger mark and showing a rising trend both at Anandpur in Keonjhar district and Ali in Kendrapada district on Saturday.

Bansadhara too had exceeded the danger mark at Kashinagar in Gajapati district, sources in the revenue control room in Bhubaneswar said.

Although the well-marked low pressure system has moved to Jharkhand on Saturday morning, heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted at one or two places over north Odisha during the next 24 hours, the local Met office said here.
