Road mishaps claim 4 lives, injures 30 in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Separate road accidents in Odisha have claimed lives of at least four persons and left around 30 others injured.

A car with five persons onboard rammed into a truck from rear near Anantapur under Salepur block in Cuttack district today killing three of them on the spot, including a woman.

Two others sustained grievious injuries in the mishap and were admitted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for treatment, where one succumbed to injuries taking the toll to four.

The deceased have been identified as Sher Ali, his wife Aliza Biwi, their son Sheikh Shiraz and his nephew.

In another incident, a bus overturned near Balanipata Chhak under Bonai police limits in Sundargarh district early this morning leaving around 30 passengers injured.

Front tyre of the ill-fated vehicle, which was on its way to Rourkela from Paradip, burst around 4 am following which the bus turned turtle. On being informed, police and Fire personnel reached the spot, rescued the injured ones and admitted them to hospital.

Condition of four of the victims is stated to be critical and they are undergoing treatment at the Rourkela Government Hospital.
