Robbers kill woman, loot valuables in Odisha’s Pipili

Puri: Unidentified robbers killed a woman during a dacoity bid inside a house at Chandrakot village under Delanga police limits in Pipili area of Odisha’s Puri district last night.

The deceased woman has been identified as Pushpalata Das. The wrongdoers decamped with cash and gold ornaments after killing her.

According to reports, the miscreants barged into the house at around 11 pm while she was alone. Her son Laxmidhar, who runs a shop, was not present at the house while the incident took place.

After Laxmidhar returned home and knocked doors followed by no response, he, sensing trouble, entered the house through window and discovered his mother being tied and locked inside bathroom.

The woman was rushed to Sakhigopal community health centre where doctor declared her dead.

“It is suspected that the woman died of suffocation as the looters had muffled her mouth with adhesive tape,” a police official said.
