Robbers loot jewellery worth Rs 1 crore, Rs 17 lakh cash from Odisha bank

Bargarh, Aug 6:

Armed robbers yesterday allegedly looted jewellery worth Rs 1 crore and cash of Rs 17 lakh from a bank in Odisha’s Bargarh district.

The miscreants looted the State Bank of India, Ruchida branch in the town at gunpoint.

According to sources, six miscreants arrived at the bank in three two-wheelers at around 2 pm yesterday. They entered the bank with helmets on and asked the staff and customers to go inside a room.

The robbers speaking in Hindi and Koshali dialect took the staff to the cash room and asked them to stuff the cash and jewellery in bags, sources added.

Following the incident, police and scientific team have begun a probe into the incident. On the other hand, the broad daylight robbery has been captured in the CCTV camera which is likely to help the investigators in cracking the case.

Police suspect that the robbers might have sneaked into neighbouring Chhattisgarh.
