Row over poster at Mumbai station with wrong pic of Odisha’s Sri Mandir

Bhubaneswar: A poster of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) in Mumbai featuring a wrong photo of Sri Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s Puri has sparked controversy.

According to reports, Sambhunath Khuntia, a servitor of the Sri Mandir, had noticed the error in the Bharat Darshan poster of IRCTC at the railway station during his visit to Mumbai.

Khuntia took photos of the poster, in which a portion bearing the text “Puri Jagannath Temple” depicts a photo of a different temple.

He later posted the photos of the poster on Facebook in a bid to draw the attention of others towards the error. He has mentioned in the post that though he contacted the concerned authorities, they expressed their unawareness over the matter.

The post has gone viral on the social networking platform after being shared by many.

On the other hand, members of Jagannath Sena today staged protest at Puri Railway Station opposing the poster.

“They have put a wrong photo in the poster thereby hurting the sentiments of the devotees. A case should be registered into the incident. We believe in non-violence for which we have resorted to a peaceful protest here. The wrong picture should be removed immediately and replaced with the photo of Sri Mandir as soon as possible,” said Jagannath Sena convenor Priyadarshan Patnaik.

Meanwhile, Sri Mandir information officer Sudeep Chatterjee said the concerned poster has been removed at the railway station.
