Royal Enfield acquires UK-based chassis manufacturer

Motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield on Tuesday said that it has acquired UK-based chassis and components maker Harris Performance Products.

According to the company, the acquisition will enhance its engineering and product design capabilities for its new generation of products and platforms.

“Their proven expertise, deep insight and understanding of motorcycling will be invaluable for us in our journey towards achieving leadership in the global mid-sized motorcycling segment,” said Siddhartha Lal, chief executive, Royal Enfield.

“All of the current staff at Harris Performance will now become employees of Royal Enfield, taking responsibility of performance and development engineering for our new range of motorcycles. They will be part of Royal Enfield’s upcoming UK Tech Centre.”

Harris Performance Products has worked with Eicher Motors’s motorcycle brand Royal Enfield for a number of years as a technical partner.

The long-standing relationship between the two companies also produced the chassis of Royal Enfield’s ‘Continental GT’ café racer model.

Alongside a successful relationships with Royal Enfield, Harris Performance has been the only manufacturer from UK to have been officially commissioned by Yamaha and Suzuki to design, develop and manufacture race bikes for Grand Prix and World Superbike. (IANS)
