Rs 10 lakh worth brown sugar seized in capital of Odisha

Around 50 grams of brown sugar worth Rs 10 lakhs have been seized from a man in the capital of Bhubaneswar during a raid by the intelligence wing of Excise Department, today.

The arrested person identified as Mustaq Ahmed was arrested from Haldipadia slum near Jharpada by intelligence wing of Excise Department.

Ahmed was a native of Midnapore of West Bengal and was residing in Haldipadia slum for some time, according to excise officials.

The accused used to allegedly get the illegal power from West Bengal and sold them in small packets of Rs 220 per packet in Bhubaneswar, officials said.

The total cost of the seized brown sugar is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakhs.
