Rs 33 lakh spent on jazzing up Odisha ministers’ chambers

Odisha government has had to cough up over Rs 33 lakh to redesign and decorate the chambers for its new ministers. This was revealed by minister Rural Development Badrinarayan Patra in the state Assembly today while replying on behalf of the chief minister to a question by BJD MLA Debasish Nayak.

The total amount spent  from the public exchequer for the new look of ministers’ chambers is Rs 33, 39,039, he said.

While the Works department has spent the highest amount of Rs 2, 89,663 in renovating the chamber of Higher Education minister Pradeep Panigrahy while an amount of Rs 1,62,914 has been spent on Energy minister Pranab Prakash Das’ chamber.

Similarly, the bill for renovation of the chamber of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare minister, Sanjay Dasburma has come to Rs 1, 48,953 and Rs 1, 45,874 has been spent on the chamber of Finance minister Pradip Kumar Amat.

However, no amount was spent on the  chamber of School and Mass Education minister Debi Mishra since he preferred to function from his old office in the State Secretariat.

Apart from this 18 new air conditioners were fitted in the chambers of nine ministers.
