Rs 48 cr to be spent on RFP for smart city projects in Odisha’s capital

As part of expediting smart city projects in Odisha’s capital, the government has decided to spend Rs 48 crore for Request of Proposal (RFP) for making city’s entire operations online.

This was decided at a committee meeting chaired by Electronics and IT Principal Secretary Pradip Jena yesterday.

The IBI has been asked to prepare the RFP following which tender will be invited for the project.

As per the decision made at the meeting, the optical fiber will be installed throughout the capital city for providing online services. The internet will be made available in all the government offices. Even if the government wants to launch any new project, that will be implemented through Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited.

Several initiatives will be undertaken under the online service project to make everything to be online. Right from providing wifi services across the city, to fee collection from the traffic rule violators, to strengthen the apps like Sarathi and BMC’s My City My Pride, the smart city operations will be online, sources said.

Besides, other services including parking, advance booking, grievance reddressal, bill payment, traffic management and form application both in private and government offices will be online.
