Puri: Taking a step for the first time, Shree Jagannath temple administration announced insurance amount of Rs 5 lakh each for the pilgrims if they will be victims of possible terror strike during mega event Rath Yatra in Puri.
Maximum 30 pilgrims will be under insurance coverage for only 13 days from June 24 till July 6.
According to sources in Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), apart from terror attack, unnatural death, accident and stamped are also coming under the category.
A pilgrim can claim insurance in municipal area of Puri in case of unnatural death, stamped and accident apart from terror attack.
The insurance amount has also been announced for 10 servitors and SJTA staff in the temple premises for one year from July 22, 2017 till July 21, 2018.
The insurance cover has also been provided for 10 devotees, servitors and SJTA staff in the premises of Gundicha temple for nine days from June 25 to July 3.
The artisans, servitors and carpenters engaged in construction of chariots for lords at Ratha Khala have also been provided the insurance cover. A beneficiary can claim the insurance amount from June 9 till June 24. Maximum 10 persons can get insurance benefit under this category.
Total Rs 9,87,728 has been deposited by the temple administration at the account of National Insurance Company towards premium for these four categories.
