Bhagwat visited Dev’s residence for half an hour after holding a RSS sakha at Nayapalli and discussed Lord Jagannath’s Nabakalebar festival to be held next year, said sources.

Bhagwat, who was on a five-day visit to the state and was camping at the Utkal Bipanna Sahayata Samiti here, held closed door meetings with BJP leaders from four eastern states, including Odisha, on Sunday.

The RSS chief held camps with RSS cadres and organizers from Odisha, West Bengal, Sikkim and Andaman & Nicobar for strengthening and spreading the RSS base in these states till yesterday.

Sources within the Sangh said BJP leaders from the four eastern states were advised to stick to the Hindutva agenda and were advised on strategies to be adopted to strengthen the Sangh’s roots in the eastern states.

While most of the BJP leaders who met the Sangh chief preferred to remain mum on what transpired at their meetings with Bhagwat, Union Tribal Affairs minister Jual Oram had said “What is discussed in a Sangh baithak is not revealed. I cannot tell you what was discussed.”
