Ruckus by BJD, Opposition stalls Odisha Assembly

Bhubaneswar: Uproar by ruling BJD members and Opposition Congress & BJP legislators rocked Odisha Assembly today, which resulted in multiple adjournments.

As soon as the House assembled for the day and the Question Hour began, several Congress and BJP MLAs rushed to the well of the House and created din by shouting slogans against the state government.

While Congress members protested the non-acceptance of an adjournment notice over deteriorating law & order situation in the state, the BJP legislators created ruckus opposing alleged financial irregularities in the State Government’s Biju Yuva Bahini programme.

On the other hand, the BJD MLAs shouted slogans against the objectionable remarks made on Twitter by ex-MP Baijayant Panda’s friend Abhijit Iyer Mitra over the Sun Temple in Konark.

Amid pandemonium, Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat adjourned the House initially till 11.30 am and later till 3 pm as noisy scenes prevailed after the House reassembled.
