Cuttack, Sep 16:
Odisha’s top Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda arrived at the Crime Branch headquarters here a little while ago. The Crime Branch police have got Sabyasachi on a three-day remand beginning today for interrogation in connection with his tow cases.
The court had earlier granted the request of the Crime Branch to take Sabyasachi on a three-day remand to interrogate him for his alleged role in the encounter at Gosma forest and attack on Galleri before the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court Bhanjanagar.
Sabyasachi, who has been lodged in the Brahmapur jail since his arrest, was to be produced at the SDJM court in Brahmapur on Monday but could not be produced as lawyers had stayed away from the courts for a day following the death of a senior advocate.
However, SDJM Brahamapur Pradip Behera on Monday allowed the Crime Branch to take Sabyasachi on remand while fixing the next date for hearing in the matter for September 24.
Sabyasachi will be back in the Brahmapur jail by 5 pm on September 18. His family members and his advocate can remain present during his interrogation at the Crime Branch headquarters, the court said while granting the remand plea of the Crime Branch.
