Bibhudutta Pradhan, a Delhi-based journalist from Odisha, has been nominated for the South Asian Journalists Association (SAJA) Journalism Award for the year 2014.
The Association announced the name of Pradhan at SAJA@20 convention at the New York University in the United States on October 11.
The 44-year-old journalist would be conferred with the award for his vivid report ‘Sold for sex at puberty: village girls’ fate in India’.
A native of Kenteikulia village of Boinda block in Angul district, Pradhan currently works as a reporter with Bloomberg News.
SAJA is one of the most dynamic journalism organizations in the US and Canada. Founded in March 1994 with 18 members, today it connects and serves more than 1,000 journalists at news outlets, big and small.
Over the years, SAJA has given out more than $200,000 in scholarships and fellowships.
Prior to this award, Pradhan had won the International Human Rights Press Award by the Hong Kong Foreign Correspondents' Club, Amnesty International Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Journalists Association last year.
