Sandalwood tree stolen from premises of Governor House in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A sandalwood tree has allegedly been stolen from the premises of Governor House here, raising serious question over the standard of security at Raj Bhawan.

As per sources, the theft took place on Tuesday. On the basis of a complaint filed by the Raj Bhawan officials, the Capital police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident to ascertain the circumstances under which the valuable tree went missing.

Cops were examining the CCTV footage to identify those who stole the tree.

“Some suspects are under our scanner. We will apprehend the accused soon,” a police official said.

Notably, the development comes days before the scheduled visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Odisha. During the two-day visit to the state, she will stay at the Raj Bhawan.
