Saraswati Puja Today, 26 Jan 2023: Tithi Time, Pushpanjali Mantra

Saraswati Puja/ Basant Panchami is celebrated on the ‘Panchami’ (5th day) of the Shukla Paksha in the month of ‘Magha’ in Hindu calendar.

The day is dedicated to worshipping Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of wisdom, knowledge, arts and music.

It marks the beginning of the spring season in India.

On this day, idols of Goddess Saraswati are beautifully decorated while devotees offer prayers with full devotion.

Yellow coloured flowers are offered to Goddess Saraswati on this day. Havan and other puja rituals are also performed on this day.

This day holds special significance for students as Goddess Saraswati is the goddess of wisdom and knowledge.

They keep their notebooks, pens and pencils near Goddess Saraswati’s feet and seek blessings.

The day is considered auspicious for initiating studies of  young children. This tradition is called ‘Vidya Arambh’.
