Sarpanch declares 2-day shutdown in this Odisha GP to curb spread of COVID19

Keonjhar: Vested with Collector’s power, Sarpanch of Hatadihi Gram Panchayat in Keonjhar district declared complete  shutdown in three villages under the GP for two days to prevent spread of the deadly coronavirus.   

The Sarpanch announced the shutdown today after three COVID-19 positive cases were reported in the area. The Panchayat covers six villages-Ana , Gopa, Hatadihi, Jalakalanga, Kapundi and Mantha. With announcement of the shutdown, public and vehicular movement have been strictly restricted in the three villages.

Worth mentioning Keonjhar district has so far reported 11 COVID-19 cases, including nine active cases. Three confirmed cases were reported from Hatadihi Panchayat this morning.

Earlier on May 13, Sarpanch of Markona Gram Panchayat in Balasore district had declared a 48-hour complete shutdown in the GP as a preventive measure of COVID-19.

It is pertinent to mention here that the state Government had earlier said Sarpanchs would get special power of Collector in their jurisdiction to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
