SC hearing on chit fund case deferred to Mar 26

The hearing on activist Alok Jena’s PIL demanding a CBI probe into multi-thousand crore chit fund scam case in Odisha in the Supreme Court was postponed to March 26 today.

At the hearing scheduled for today, the CBI was expected to place its views on the investigation into the multi-crore scam before the apex court.

Apart from this, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the state Crime Branch police was to have submitted a list of 37 chit fund companies that have defrauded depositors of crores of rupees.

Submissions of a detailed report on the modus operandi of inter-state chit fund companies like the Saradha Group of Companies, Rose Valley, Astha and Green Ray that have swindled crores from the people of Odisha was also scheduled for the day.
