Odisha junior doctors defer strike till July 15

Odisha Sun Times Bureau

Bhubaneswar, July 2:

Junior doctors of the SCB Medical College in Cuttack, the premier government medical college in Odisha, have deferred their proposed cease work from tomorrow till July 15.doctor

The junior doctors had announced their decision to go on cease work from Thursday to press their demand for arrest of Prof Dr Sitaram Mohapatra, the head of the Pathology department of SCB who has been accused of sexually harassing several girl students.

The junior doctors association said it would decide on its next course of action at its meeting on July 15. Till then, all junior doctors will continue to wear black badges as they have been doing for the past three days, a spokesperson for the association told media persons this evening.

The state government’s decision to order the transfer of Dr Mohapatra to the Health department has clearly failed to placate the junior doctors, who are now bent on the arrest of the tainted professor.
