Cuttack, Mar 14:

The Twin City Commissionerate police today asked the SCB Medical College and Hospital authorities to conduct DNA test of the two newborns, who were stolen from the hospital, and their parents.

The babies would be handed over to their respective biological parents after completion of the DNA test, a police official said.

Meanwhile, the Mangalabag police today moved the Cuttack SDJM court seeking permission for the DNA test.

Notably, the two newborns were stolen from the hospital by a woman on January 5 and March 8.

The Mangalabag police, besides rescuing the two babies from Kafla Bazar and Barang, had arrested one Manasi Samal for her alleged involvement in the incident.

She had allegedly stolen the newborns from the hospital identifying herself as an ASHA worker.

Three others, who had purchased the newborns from her, have also been arrested.
