Security breach: Bengal tourist takes selfie inside Puri Jagannath temple

Bhubaneswar: A selfie by a woman from West Bengal inside Sri Jagannath Temple premises in Odisha’s Puri are doing the rounds on social media raising questions over security arrangements at the 12th-century shrine.

Besides posting her selfie inside the temple premises on her Facebook account, the woman has also uploaded a photo of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at Ratna Singhasan inside Gundicha Temple.

The photos were apparently taken during the sojourn of the deities at Gundicha Temple during the 9-day Ratha Yatra festival this year and uploaded on June 28.

On being asked by her friends on Facebook as to how she managed to click the photos inside the temple premises as mobile phones are not allowed inside, the women has replied that she entered inside carrying her cell phone in the presence of policemen but no one noticed.

She further said no one opposed her or told her anything while she was capturing the pictures.

On the other hand, two other selfies inside the Jagannath temple premises by a youth has come to fore as well.

Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi said investigation into the matter is on.
