The Twin City Commissionerate police on Friday arrested a youth identified as Dipak Pradhan hailing from Aska area in Ganjam district who was working as a security guard in the capital city of Odisha and recovered ten bikes allegedly looted by him.
According to reports, yesterday about 1:30 PM, a person identified as Milan Samal went on job parking his bike in front of Birla Sun Life Insurance office near Laxmisagar flyover.
After returning back, he noticed Pradhan trying to flee the spot with the bike using a duplicate key following which he raised an alarm and the passersby chased the accused.
Laxmisagar police reached the spot and took the thief into custody.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that he had looted a number of bikes.
On the basis of information provided by him, police recovered ten bikes conducting raids at different places in Bhubaneswar.
“We have forwarded him to court after registering a case and investigating whether he was a single-man gang or a syndicate was operating,” said a police official.
