The former MLA from Badachana told reporters here today that he was distressed to find the person in charge of the party organization trying to destabilize it by making such irresponsible statements in the media repeatedly.

He said he completely agrees with senior leader Narasingha Mishra’s comment that Jena’s statements in media about sabotage attempts by some party leaders during the last polls, constituted a breach of party discipline.

“ How can somebody who has so far failed to take action against rebel candidates who openly defied the party and campaigned against party candidates in several constituency talk so big ?, he asked.

Mohapatra said the PCC chief had issued a formal circular, on the last day of the filing of nominations for the last phase polls, asking all party rebels to withdraw or face action.

However, not a single one of them has been taken to task for the simple reason that some of these rebels enjoy the patronage of Jena himself, he alleged.

One such example is a rebel candidate in Bari constituency who is pretty close to Jena, he said. Although the PCC chief batted for him, he was denied the party due to some last minute manipulation by another Jena. Out of anger this person contested as an independent but he has not been expelled as yet. There are other instances where the PCC chief has allegedly put up dummy candidates as well, he said.

Mohapatra referred to serious charges brought up by some Congress ticket aspirants who have openly alleged that they were asked to cough up lakhs of rupees to get tickets. ” This was never challenged or denied by the PCC president,” he said.

The former MLA said he is preparing a comprehensive report on Jayadev Jena’s role and activities ever since he was made the PCC chief for the first time and said this will be sent to the party high command to expose his political character.

“ I will also let the high command know how he is trying to destabilize the party to settle petty personal scores with some leaders who he considers to be big threats to his position in the party,” Mohapatra informed.
