Septic tank mishap: 2 die of asphyxiation, one critical in Odisha’s Bargarh

Bargarh: In a tragic incident, at least two persons died of asphyxiation and another became critical while removing centring of a septic tank at Mandosil village under Paikamal police limits in Odisha’s Bargarh district today.

According to reports, two labourers Karunakar Patel and Madan Bariha entered inside an under-construction septic tank of Sushant Bag of the village this morning to detach the centring while Nepal Netam, a mason, stayed outside.

Moments later, the duo didn’t respond following which Netam went inside the tank in a bid to rescue the two. However, condition of all of them became critical due to suffocation.

On being informed, Fire personnel reached the spot, rescued them and admitted the three to the Nuapada district headquarters hospital, where Karunakar and Madan were declared brought dead.

On the other hand, Netam is undergoing treatment at the hospital and his condition is stated to be critical.
