Set up RSP-like unit in Keonjhar, urges youngest MP from Odisha

Bhubaneswar: BJD MP Chandrani Murmu, the youngest member of the 17th Lok Sabha, today urged the Centre to set up a mega steel plant in her constituency Keonjhar.

In her maiden speech in the Parliament today, Murmu first greeted all members of the House for Ratha Jatra.

Justifying her demand, the MP said her constituency is enriched with various natural resources and iron ore is being supplied from the district to different parts of the country and abroad. However, people of the district, most of whom are tribals, are migrating to other cities or states in search of work.

“Keonjhar has raw materials in abundance. The district ticks all other criteria required for setting up of a steel plant. Like the one in Rourkela, I want the Centre to establish a mega steel plant in Keonjhar,” Murmu said adding that this would be of great help in creating jobs for local youth.

Worth mentioning, Murmu had won the Keonjhar Lok Sabha seat by defeating two-time BJP MP Ananta Nayak by a margin of 66,203 votes.
