Sevayats of Lingaraj Temple to get Covid jab from tomorrow

Bhubaneswar: The Sevayats or priests of Shree Lingaraj Temple in Bhubaneswar will be vaccinated against COVID-19 from tomorrow. A decision in connection with this was taken by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Prem Chandra Chaudhary.

A total of 50 sevayats will be inoculated daily during the Covid vaccination drive.

Around 300 sevayats are expected to be vaccinated and arrangements have been made accordingly, said Suvendu Kumar Sahoo, Deputy Commissioner, Health of the municipal corporation. The session will start at 10 AM and continue as per normal timing.

Till March 16, 2021, a total dose of 1,07,678 vaccines have been given in Bhubaneswar. Of these 4,42,44 doses were administered to health workers, 23,355 doses to frontline workers and 40,079 doses to elderly persons and comorbidity cases.

A total of 31 sites are being used as vaccination sites, said Dr. C. V. S. N. Rao, Additional District Urban Public Health Officer(ADUPHO).

Capital hospital, four Urban Community Health Centers (UCHCs) and AIIMS have vaccination sites every day except Sunday and public holidays. All Urban Primary Health Centers (UPHCs) have vaccination sites on Monday, Thursday and Saturday. All private hospital sites are open every day except Sunday and public holidays.
