Severe hailstorm damages crops in Odisha’s Cuttack

Cuttack: Sudden hailstorm in Banki area of Odisha’s Cuttack district last night took the residents of the area by surprise and damaged vegetables cultivated by farmers of the region.

Rainfall accompanied with hail lashed the area for around an hour and deformed cabbages, brinjals and pumpkins yielded at farmlands.

The damage has left many farmers helpless who had taken loan for agricultural purposes. The farmers have demanded compensation in this regard from the state government.

The hailstorm didn’t cause any casualty in the area, reports said.
