Sex racket busted in Odisha, two held, three women rescued

Bhubaneswar: A team of personnel of Quick Action Team (QAT) and Lingaraj police conducted a raid yesterday night in Gada Mahavir area, on outskirts of Odisha capital and busted an illegal sex racket arresting two including a woman, who was the chief operator.

Three sex workers were rescued during the raid.

The arrested person was identified as Tapas Patnaik (39) of Hirapur Chausathi Jogini area under Balianta police station. The arrested woman, who was operating the sex racket, was identified as Soni alias Sonali Prusti (37) of Jajpur Road area.

Police seized two bikes, five mobile phones, cash and few objectionable items from the spot during the raid.

According to reports, the illegal sex racket was being operated in a rented house at Sivani Nagar in Gada Mahavir area under Lingaraj police limit in past three months. On being informed about illegal act, a team of personnel comprising of QAT and Lingaraj police conducted raid at around 10 pm on Sunday and busted the sex racket.

During the raid, police found the man and three sex workers in a compromising position. After rescuing the sex workers, they were sent for medical examination at Capital Hospital following interrogation. Later, the three were sent to short stay home at Jaanla.

The arrested chief woman operator and the customer are being grilled by the police.
